at my firm we produce construction dwgs at A1(841x594mm)
and office copies at A3 (420x297mm)
we are now printing to pdf quite frequently, and want to print the A1 pdf to speifically 50% (A1 reduction by 50 percent = A3 Sheet)
Presently the adobe printing dialogue box only has 100 percent & scale to fit
scale to fit is never at the right percentage (say 61 percent)

i know of my limited use of DWF, that you can specifiy the print reduction percentages

is there a way to print from pdf files to a specific percentage reduction

    running adobe prefessional 6

Yes, depending on your printing device.
My HP has a feature called "ZoomSmart". I can print PDFs at exactly the
    reduced scale I want.

We currently plot our drawings to PDF for printing full size, reductions,
and archiving. It's much better than DWF for us.

Dean Saadallah thought for a minute, then typed the following:

I won't dive too deeply into the arguments for/against PDF or DWF, but for
some of us, the transition to DWF isn't possible. If you don't have the
answer to the question, please don't give a stock "DWF" answer.

    no problem.
One thing to consider when designing your titleblocks and sheet usage....
    Plotter margins...
Our plotter has a leading/trailing paper edge margin of 17mm and a
    left/right margin of 5 mm.
If you design your titleblock to make maximum use of the paper, some
cropping will occur at reduced scales.
We increased our designed margins on the left/right to 34 mm and rotate our
    reductions 90 degrees.
This allows for a true 50% reduction when trying to maximize paper usage.

  6. You might also be able to do it with RePlot from www.cadfx.com that allows
you to batch PDF files and I'm pretty sure you can specify the scaling also.
But I don't think there is any way from Acrobat to do it unless you could
    write a plug-in for it.

my clients, many of whom use Macs, have a very different opinion of
    Autodesk's offerings.
