pdf lines merge

I am using AutoCAD 2000i and am plotting PDF files with Acrobat 6.
Additionally, in my drawings I have 'shaded areas' created with solid hatch
and colors that use screening in the pen style table. I created a PDF .pc3
file and selected the lines merge option but many of my solid lines do not
appear through the shaded areas as they should (and do on my actual printers
and plotters). Anyone familiar with this issue!!?!

Thanks for the tip. I have thought of this though and found that when there
are blocks, the display order of the shade will not change.

I understand that AutoCAD 2002 & 2004 overcame this lines merge problem with
..dwf's.
Can you confirm or deny that?
