PDF files from AutoCAD

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Rodney Crowley, Jan 21, 2005.

  1. We currently run drawings through a batch process that creates a PDF file
for each layout in an AutoCAD drawing. For instance, if we have an AutoCAD
drawing named 12.dwg, with three layout sheets, we end up with three PDF
    files - 12-1of3.pdf, 12-2of3.pdf, and 12-3of3.pdf . What I would like to do
is place all three layouts into a multi-page PDF file (12.pdf). Does anyone
know how this can be done?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I use "pdfEedit995" to combine multiple PDF files into one file. It's a
FREE download. The free version has a nag screen pop-up every time you use
it. If you don't want the nag screen, you can purchase a "key".

  3. We have that PDF995 virtual printer, too, and it has an associated (also
freeware) program called PdfEdit995, which has a "combine" option in it.
With that turned on, each PDF file generated is added to the previous one as
one multi-page file, until you turn it off.

  4. I have both Adobe Acrobat and Distiller. We can combine outside AutoCAD, but
I am looking to combine as they are being created.

  5. PDF995 mentioned earlier will do this, right from within AutoCAD. Set
PdfEdit995 to "combine", and "plot" from AutoCAD to the PDF995 virtual
printer. Instead of doing anything with paper, it will make PDF files, and
will append each one to the previous one as long as "combine" is on.

  6. Adobe Acrobat 7.0 = $299.99 + tax + S/H (for each install)
    OR
    Pdf995 AND PdfEdit995 = FREE

If you're only going to it to make PDF copies of your AutoCAD drawings, then
I don't see any reason to get Adobe Acrobat.

    Rodney,

I use AcroPlot from http://www.cadzation.com/ It comes in two flavors -"Jr." works from within AutoCAD and will do one drawing/multiple layouts as you require. The full version works outside of AutoCAD and will combine multiple drawings/layouts into one pdf.

(I was a Beta tester, but I have no affiliation with AArcoplot.)
