    Hi Friends,

I am designing a VCO using Virtuoso. The pcell of components can
not be seen in layout window. I can only see the symbols.

What could be the problem? Thanks.

Did you accidentally place the symbol in the layout?

Unfortunately there's not really enough detail in the question to know what
    you've done...

    Andrew,

I am not accidentally placing the symbol in the layout. I want to
generate the layout of VCO from the schematic. So I use
creat->pick from schematic to generate the layout. However, I can only
see the symbols without pcell in the layout window.
But when I click each symbol in layout window, there will be a message
shown in the CIW, for example, "capactor layout".
If I choose layout of component from library and place it in layout
window, I hav e the same problem.

Another problem is each time when I open the layout window, there
    is a message pop out:
There are undefined packages found. Most likely, the display
resource file(display.drf) for a library was not merged.
How can I solve this problem?

    Thanks a lot.

I think you need to change the display settings. Use the Options >>>
Display, on the menu change the Display levels Stop to something like
    100.

    Hope this helps,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

    It works!!!

    Thanks a lot.

Would you please also let me know what this Display level
    parameter controls?

    Thank you again.

Well guessed Tim! I somehow assumed that somebody would have this most basic
level of knowledge before posting to the news group...

The stop level controls the number of hierarchy levels that are expanded. If you
have 0 levels expanded, you just see a box with the cell (or instance - it's a
preference on the options form) displayed.

I suggest you read the documentation, or go through (at least) the cell design
    tutorial in the documentation.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Thanks Andrew.

I really appreciate your suggestion. I am struggling on the layout
    now(no experience before).
What documentation do you suggest me to read?
