Parameter inheritance from layouts

I'm having problems with parameter inheritance from layouts. I've created a
new part and declared the layout, and the parameters show up as expected,
but when I create any features in the part, they don't inherit the layout
parameters. What's the use of the part inheriting the parameters if they
can't be used in features? I could use an ugly hack, where I create local
copies of the parameters and use relations to assign them at the part level,
as the locally created parameters do seem to be inherited by the features,
but I'd rather not do this as it'll inevitably lead to me making a mistake
    somewhere along the line.

Is this the expected behaviour or am I missing something?

    Regards,

  3. You might look into Nitro-Cell - http://www.nitromation.com

That bi-passes the whole layout issue and allows you to better manage
control over your parameter/value flow over your parts/assemblies (and
you can do it from Excel instead of a layout).
