I am saving assemblies as VRML and taking them into crossroads and saving
them as 3DS files for import into a program called Floorplan 3d.

When I bring them in, I need to specifiy the size of the object.

Is there something that will tell me the overall dimensions of an assembly
    in Solidworks, as in X Y Z???

    Thanks,
    Devin

    Devin,

Indirectly you can use Mass Properties and approximate your building
as a box. Mass Props gives you Moment of Inertia about the x, y and z
    axis.

All Moments of Inertia's are a combination of width, base, height.

Engineering.com has the formula's for moment about the x axis and
centroidal x axis. Note their orientation for the Origin is not the
    same as SolidWorks.

I like the centroidal x axis because it is easier to solve 3 equations
and 3 unknowns with less fractions.

    Example: IX = (m/12) (a^2 + c^2), SolidWorks labels this value Px.

You could use a density of 1.

Note, this ia an approximation and depends on the complexity of the
model. It may be more appropriate to use a cylindrical shape or
    compound methods.

Thanks, if that's the easiest way, I think I'll stick to measuring it
    manually.
