Other than the M60??

I know that the Dell M60 would be the best choice for a laptop to run SW,
but other than that, are there any other honorable mentions? I'm looking
for something that I'll use part-time when I bring work home or go on the
    road. Any suggestions?

  2. Brian,
I bought an Inspiron 5150 simply becuae it was about 1/2 the price of the
M60. It comes with an inferior graphics card that I was able to "Soft
Quadro" to an FX500 and enable RealView (and stop the dreaded "multiple
window slowdown"). It has been a great buy.

    Inspiron 5150
    P4 3.06GHz
    512MB RAM (I'll exand soon)

    Paid $1600.00

So the SoftQuadro works on this machine? How is performance overall (with
    SW)?

  4. Overall performance is great. I do a lot of complex sheet metal parts, and
some assemblies in the range of 1000-1500 parts and have been quite pleased
(you might want to browse this group - I'm usually very happy with all
    things SolidWorks).

The machine came with a GeForce Go card, and after a little trial and error
(and the proper instructions) I was able to apply the Soft Quadro patch in a
    few minutes. Works well.

I got a M60 from the Dell refurbish site for $2250.00. You might want to
    look there.

  6. Which drivers did you start from to apply SoftQuadro?

Here, we did it with the 40.72 (Gef4 - TI), and SW support asks us to
upgrade drivers for SW2004. Is it bulls..t?

    Thanks
