OT - browser version and this newsgroup

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Edward T Eaton, May 17, 2007.

  1. Ever since the german free newsgroup server decided to charge, my
cheap-being has been using 'google groups' to post here.

I have found that internet explorer works great for posting, but if I
use the firefox browser my carefully composed and overly long posts
are lost to the ether when submitted through firefox to google groups.

    However, I otherwise like firefox

Has anyone had luck posting from firefox?

(In a way, this could end up being a really dumb question - just like
asking a room during a presentation if they can hear me from the
back. If they can't hear, they can't respond - duh.)

Just curious. If firefox users (about 25% of the world) can post,
can you share the magic setting?

Another really great free news server with reading and posting permissions
    is greatnowhere....

You need to register (for free) at www.greatnowhere.com as this is how he
maintains a no-spammer site....After that, your reader is:

    reader.greatnowhere.com

    Good Luck!

    mozilla thunderbird:

    news.actcom.co.il

    hope this will help you,

I never post with firefox, but this time I did just to see what it
would do. I don't think this helps you in any way, though.

  5. Thanks for the test - there must be something quirky with my firefox.
I noticed that, though it is faster on a lot of sites, there are some
things it doesn't work with (like accessing my work email from home -
I have to use internet explorer for that). Now you have me wondering
what setting I can mess with since firefox clearly posts here. I
appreciate your taking the time to test it.

Also, thanks to the oGil and IYM for the free news reader tips - I
miss my old outlook newsfeed and like the threaded view better there.
    Thanks to all for responding.
