I am curious is there any product available free or for sale that is
    comparable to Reprodesk?

I have searched the web and found many printing / viewing softwares that
accept more formats than Reprodesk but don't
print multiple sheets. I'm not sure if my opinion is biased because
Reprodesk was the norm and now its gone. [ Management's fault ]

We switched repro companies in an effort to save money and it has turned
into one big headache when printing inhouse.

I am looking for a software that runs locally, can print multiple sheets
(plt), has a viewer, and doesn't need software installed on the print
    server.

    Hi Stephen,

I think this software will do what you need: http://cadfx.com/replot

It runs locally, prints multiple sheets, has a viewer, will print different
scales (full, half, quarter, to-fit, custom), collate, handles PLT, DWF,
PDF, and TIFF files. I could go into more detail, but you will see that on
the product page. And best of all, the price is should be quite attractive.
The trial version is exactly the same as the licensed version. The one
difference is you can only process 3 files at a time. Enjoy...

    Hi,
    look at this profesional solution.

    http://www.tgsoft.ch/English/TGPlot.htm

In Switzerland it's the most used plottool by Copyshops/Reprocompanys, but
also in Germany TGPLOT is going more popular.
It's very powerfull, and easy to use.
It has own drivers for almost all large format plotters in the market.
    (Windows driver are not used!)

Ploting PLT, PDF, TIF, JPG or other formats to a Oce/Xerox/KIP/Mita/
Designjet plotter is just one click.

Plotting 100 large format PDF to a Oce is 30 Sec. work for the operator.
Select plotter, select files, set paramters and Plot.
Many steps are done automaticly. (Autorotate, remove white borders, select
    roll, set fold paramteres etc..)

    Or have you ever see a HP105x producing 30 E sizes/hour at 600 DPI ?
    TGPLOT can do that.
(The HP105x works at 300 DPI in fastmode, but as TGPLOT is a RIP, it can
drive the DJ at 600 DPI and draft mode!)

The only difference to Repordesk is that TGPLOT is a Software RIP, and can
not act as a "Plotter" controller as Reprodesk do.
But if the Oce Plotter has an embeded Controller (or Reprodesk as
    controller), it works fine.

    More info on the homepage.

    Stephen,

Take a look at http://www.plotstream.com if you want to plot multiple .DWG's
and multiple layouts to any plotter that AutoCAD supports without tying up
your users' workstations. Even your users that don't have AutoCAD can plot
    drawing sets with it.

    Best Regards,
