noise analysis of a time discrete system (SC-amplifier)

Discussion in 'Cadence' started by Frank Nitsche, Aug 19, 2004.

  1. Hello everybody,

how can I do a noise analysis of a switched capacitor amplifier? With
spectre I can make a noise analysis based of an AC analysis. But a
SC-amplifier (or also SC-filter) is a time discrete system and so I can
    only make a transient analysis.
We have to verify a switched capacitor amplifier in comparison to a
normal analogue amplifier with the same gain regarding the noise.
The SC-Amplifier has much more noise at the measurement (output is
filtered by a low pass filter).
Is it possible to simulate the noise behaviour of a time discrete system
    by cadence tools?

  3. Thanks Andrew. So we've to buy the "Artist Statistics License" - right?

    Frank.

  4. Frank,

No, you don't need the Artist Statistics License to simulate using SpectreRF.
You do need the SpectreRF license though...

Artist Statistics (aka EDFM) is for Monte Carlo, Corners and Optimiser.

    Andrew.
