"My opinion is the instructor led training is the best
    method to learn SolidWorks."

Do you feel it's the best method for someone who knows how
to teach them self with the proper tutorials and
    documentation ?

Many people don't have any desire to have their hand held
and can do just fine with in-depth well documented complex
    tutorials.

Aren't you really saying SolidWorks documentation and
tutorials leave a hell of a lot to be desired ?

Do you think there is a reason SolidWorks and most other
CAD/CAM companies document their products so poorly ?
Think it might have something to do with giving VAR's a very
    good source of income ?

This is in no way a problem that is in any way unique to
    SolidWorks.

However, this is yet another area that most product loyalists
    have no qualms about

This should come as no surprise to anyone who can be
    objective about CAD/CAM.

Frankly, I think most of these product loyalists deserve to
get taken for a ride. Perhaps when more of them get screwed
over and wake up a core group of more objective CAD/CAM
users will be the majority rather than the minority.

  2. It's funny how fixated we can get on the way we commonly do things.

I think that a self tought person is ofen very effective,

However, it has been great for me to sit with an expert from time to
time. You do get out of your old fixations and see how other people do
things. Most training is a good mix between self-discovery and being
    shown.

    Both help us get there.

Those BM folks show only 2 1/2 & 3 axes posts, don't even mention
much, if any, of full 5 axes, don't list all the known bugs on their
    Web pages ....

First you'd have to know what it is, what it's for, how to use it
    .... Oops again ....
