We are involved in developing solution for 2-dimensional ‘To Scale’ HVAC engineering Drawings. In this project, as per the input parameters the drawings are dynamically called and processed (resized and reshaped). Accordingly different layout and Views of HVAC drawings are shown.

We are presently using AutoDesk Actrix drawing tool with VBA (Visual Basic for Application) for the same. As AutoDesk is no longer supporting Actrix , we are in the process of evaluating new drawing tool which will replace Actrix.

These are following features we are looking in New Drawing Tool:
    1) Cost Effective ( Licensing Cost per user has to be reasonable).
    2) Draw ‘To Scale’ drawings.
    3) To manipulate the drawings at runtime through code.
    4) To program drawings so that it’s ‘shape and size’ can be changed at runtime (same as activeshapes in Actrix).

(We know that this can be achieved with AutoCAD 2000 with VBA however it is not a cost effective solution as licensing cost per user is too high).

We appreciate your valuable suggestion on the same.

If you want to be able to create DWG files without purchasing AutoCAD you could look at the site below:
