Why does it take 2-3 hr. to create a darn network install image for LDT
2005? It was like that for LDT 2004 as well. It seems like an excessive
amount of time just to create an install image.

Hmmmm....it just took 5 hours to create an install image for LDT 2005. That
    is ridiculous!

How long does it take to copy a 10 megabyte file to your server?

Pete, Something is not right with your system. My installation Image of LDT 2005 only took less than 20 minutes to create. LDT 2004 took a little less time but then there was only a single installation disk instead of two. Mike Partenheimer

Try turning off virus checking while the deployments are being created.

  6. To add to what Jerry is saying. Real time Virus Protection validates
against every file and that will slow the creating way down. You can turn
it off during the creating of the deployment and then turn it back on. The
thing about Virus Protection is that it wants to check every file and that
    can take a long time.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the replies.

It only takes a few seconds to copy a 10 MB file to the server. I will try
disabling Symantec and see if that helps.

    Thanks,
    Pete

That did the trick! It only took 16 min. to create an image with Symantec
turned off. Thanks for the tip!
