I run a small business with 6 networked computers. Most have Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP and one has ME (only used as a storage for archived jobs). We can currently only send one plot at a time to our Designjet 700. We have to wait until each plot has finished or the next plot will overload the plotter. I have tried all the nesting and queuing options on the plotter to no avail.

I used to work at a firm that had a separate computer in the plotter room that was connected to the network and the plotter. This computer acted as a "server" and took all of the plots sent to the Designjet from the entire network and nested them until the plotter was ready for the next plot. I have an extra computer sitting around doing nothing that I would like to set up to do something similar so we can all just send our plots anytime we want. Or is there another way of handling this problem? What software do I need?

How do you larger firms handle this dilemma?
