We are looking to purchase a new plotter. HP has Designjet 400, 500, 800 series, among others. Any one knows of compatibility problems?
Color is not necessary, but they come with it, except the 400.
    We use Windows XP.
Currently we print to 36" x 150' rolls 98 % of the time. The problem with the current HP 650c is the accuracy on large plots. I have tried time and time again to calibrate it, but to no avail.
    Any thoughts, problems, suggested add-on's?
    Thanks for any help!

We have the HP Designjet 1050C and love it! No known compatability problems, usually used for printing out 24"x36" and 30"x42" drawings. Comes with color, which we don't use often, but when we do it looks great!

    Just my $.02

  3. We purchased the HP Designjet 800 a few months ago and love it. The 1050C
looked nice also, but several more bucks. We plot mostly medium size to
large residential projects on 24" wide roll paper.

Wow! how big are the plots and what is the error?

We use paper size of 36" x 144" for large full size panel drawings. Most of them are 50" to 80" or so. They range from 1/16" to 3/16" off in length. I have used the calibration routine about 3 or 4 times now, to no avail.
What is the difference between, HP-GL, HP-GL/2, HP RTL, HP-PCL3-GUI, as far as print languages go? Different HP plotters show different combinations of these for each one.

..0004% error... not much unless you are plotting full size templates and
    using them for fabrication?

hpgl & hpgl/2 are plotter languages

RTL is Raster Transfer Language and is Closely related to PCL except
that it is optimized for inkjets instead of Laser printers

pcl is printer control language and is commonly found in hp lasers

of them are 50" to 80" or so. They range from 1/16" to 3/16" off in length.
