Can solidworks models be used to create NC codes for the shop to use.
I am wanting to do it without having to make DXF's. Any information
    would be appreciated.

  2. Some CAM software will take SolidWorks solid models as input. (As I recall
MasterCAM is one, provided you have the right version/module.) I think most
will require you to output Parasolid, STEP, or IGES files. You should
probably ask this question on alt.machines.cnc

Yes. Many cadcam systems can directly import a native SolidWorks
    file.

Here is a You tube video on "Mastercam Direct" that even brings in the
SolidWorks feature tree. They show a very simple model. I tend to
doubt you would get everything in the SolidWorks feature tree on more
advanced models. In that case you can always settle for a "dumb"
solid.... no features. It will also not work on assemblies.

    Any more questions?

*You* STILL cannot tell CAD from CAD/CAM from CAM.

BTW, What if you want the part file back with toolpath data
IN SOLIDWORKS? Does it support the data?
    I doubt it.

    No clues, eh?
Sort of like all the other ways to translate models?
    Pretty funny.
    A) You have to have both Solidworks AND MasterCAM.
    B) It looks like it's a SW ==> MC direct translator.
    One way I expect.

How many here recall Octal & their direct translator efforts?
