I am receiving files from clients that have NUMBEROUS named layers.
We are finding this inconvenient for our use.
Does anybody know of a way to remove these named layers without having to go
to the Layer Properties Manager and delete each one individually.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Open layer manager - yes, it can take a long time but it is necessary once.
Create an empty layer filter naming it whatevery you like (Empty Layer
    Group - suggestion)
Select load filter groups. A warning will come up stating this action will
remove any layer filter assignments that already exist. Click yes - because
that is what you want to do. Select your empty version and all are gone.
    Works with open drawing only.

  3. Active all layers, selected all objects, put it in layer '0', selected
layer '0' as default and purge.
