Mystery rectangles showing up?

    If he doesn't see the waste, show it to him, track the time wasted on
    garbage repair then multiply it by the billing rate. Now if you guys are
    paid by the hour by the client it's not a waste, but increased profit, which
    may be why he chooses not to see it. If he doesn't care, he's part of the
    problem.

    One question I still have. So are people changing their xref colors in
    the drawing used as an xref directly, or are they changing them in the
    drawing they pull the xref into?

    My preference is to never alter a drawing from an outside source in any way.
    (If that's possible, given the quality issues we've discussed.) So I
    wouldn't go into the xref and change any colors. I would change the
    "visibility" of the xref (colors & freeze/thaw status) using the layer
    manager in MY drawing, the one in which the xref is attached. Set
    VISRETAIN=1 to keep these settings. If you need to re-create the settings in
    another of your drawings, you can export/import the layer states.
