My Current Wish list for SolidWorks

  1. My Current Abbreviated SolidWorks Wish list:

It would be nice to see most if not all of what data is scattered
throughout SW into an easy to use central location... this should be true
not only for weldments, but ALL parts (or materials) that SW has scattered
throughout its database(s)... or at least have the same data.

Example: I had to manually transfer/copy the COSMOS material data to the SW
Material area (actually it creates another drop down menu category, along
with my materials category) and now it opens up a much larger materials
database for parts creation... especially for plastics and steels. And thus
makes what is in COSMOS available and the same in SolidWorks... the way it
    should be.

While I am at it... it would be nice to see toolbox components that mount
with specific hole sizes be somehow incorporated into the "hole wizard"...
like PEM nuts, or bearings & dowel pins (with tolerance data for various
fits - free, slip, interference, etc.)... Then during assembly (or
sub-assembly) creation, SolidWorks would then ask if you would like to
populate the holes "marked" for a specific hardware type... that way I could
forget remembering the hole sizes used to insert PEM nuts (for example) and
give my brain space to remember other things, like our anniversary,
birthdays, and other important data as well!!!

I know what you mean about pemnuts. The amazing an ironic thing is:
if you drill into the toolbox database for pemnuts, there is a column
with all the hole sizes for each pemnut listed - yet this information
is used no where in solidworks. It exists only in the database.

  4. Well that is a start... Thanks for that info!

I guess there is hope for a "Unified SolidWorks Database"!

  5. Could you create a smart-component for each PEM nut that inserts the
appropriate hole automatically when you insert the PEM nut?
