mtext numbering routine?

We do large amounts of construction notes, like I am sure everyone else
does. We usually have the secretarys type these notes, and then we import
them into mtext. We alway separate each note with a blank line. We don't
let them number the notes, because of the spacing issues. When we import the
notes, we always set the spacing to "exactly".

I have a nifty little routine that will allow me to number each note 1., 2.,
3., 4., etc, by selecting the first line of the note. The problem is, that
this doesn't work in acad 2004. Does anyone know of another routine/addon
that I might find out there somewhere that might do this?

The word is that Mtext has been greatly improved. Have you tried to just use
it by itself and arrange in the format you wish?
I know what you are referring to with the indentation spacing when you add
    "1." infront of the note.
    just a thought

From everything I have heard as well you should be able to do all this
formatting right in Mtext now. I would believe you can import it exactly as
it is from word to the mtext window and keep format. I have not tested this
method yet but have heard it works.
