modelling transparent materials

    is there a way to change something in the category of appearance, i
    don't see anything obvious, so that a part goes from looking like metal
    or wood or whatever to a more transparent material like glass ?

    Dude...

    Right click the part.
    Pick "Feature" or "Body".
    Select "Appearance"
    LOT's of choices...transparency being the first...

    Might want to have a stroll through the "Help" system... not
    much missing for fundamentals...
