missing toolbars in autocad2006

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Charel Vankemzeeke, Jan 19, 2006.

  1. Hi,
After installation of autocad 2006, I don't get any toolbar. Only a black
screen with on the bottom the commandline.
I tried already several re-installations, even formatting the whole pc and
with new updates (xp sp2), nothing helps till now.
With autocad 2005, this is no problem, so it's only in version 2006.

Is there anyone who can help me with this strange error?

    Thanks,
    Charel

The same errors for me, no toolbars and no menu. I have decided to install
    Autocad 2004 again!

First, go into OPTIONS, and check the name of your main customization
file. If you are running vanilla AutoCAD, it should be "acad.cui".

Now close OPTIONS, and at the command line, type in CUI (even if the
command line is not visible, it should still work). It may take 5-15
seconds for the interface to appear.

At this point you are in the CUI editor. You need to select a workspace
on the left, choose Edit on the right, select the content for this
workspace on the left, organize this content on the right, then click Done.

Now back in AutoCAD, set this workspace current. If the Workspaces
toolbar is not visible, turn it on by running the -toolbar command. The
    toolbar name is WORKSPACES.

Read up on 2006 and CUI, there are white papers and tutorial videos out
there, google it. You might possibly contact your dealer for some
    training if necessary.

  4. What kind of PC do you have? Is it a Packard Bell?

It sounds like the default folders have been plaaced out of the path.
Under options/files, make sure the toolbar and menu names and paths are
    correct.

I used custom toolbars and menus so I had quite a chore getting them right.
Try to use the default places for your TLB's and menus so Autocad doesn't
    mess up and lose them.

I hate the folder name "My Documents". It sounds too kindergartenish.
