Missing Lines in Drawings

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Jerry Steiger, Aug 12, 2004.

  1. Have other people been having problems with missing lines in drawings?
Running SW2004 SP3.0, Nvidia Quadro4 XGL card, XP. As an example, yesterday
I had a drawing of an overmolded part that looked just fine. I added new
configurations to the core, the overmold and the assembly, but none of these
configurations are shown in the drawing. I added a couple of notes to the
drawing. Now there are probably a couple of dozen missing lines in various
views. Similar problems have shown up on several other drawings recently.
These are not due to interferences between parts.

Two things off the top of my head:

    1. Set the slider on the Image Quality Dialog Box to the right till the
    lines appear.

    2. If it is a drawing of an assembly, check for interference. That can cause
    a problem.

  3. I have noticed that with irregular shapes (those that would be best defined
by a spline) sometimes. You have to set the option for Optimize Edge Length
in the document properties of the model I don't remember if you had to do
    the drawing also.

Out of curiosity, does SW use D-Cubed's Hidden Line Manager for drawings?

    No, they do not.

Here is a list on the D-Cubed site that shows their customers and the
    modules they use:

  7. Thanks for the suggestions, and they would have been right on, as the shapes
are most irregular, but it turned out to be pilot error. I had made a part
of the core and the cavity joined together to send to the mold makers. I
thought that I had suppressed that part in the default configuration shown
in the drawing, but I hadn't. So I did have interferences and P. wins the
prize (one beer or beverage of choice at SolidWorks World, if I ever manage
    to go to another one).
