Mirror Text in Blocks

I have searched all over and am still trying to figure out a way to properly
handle mirrored text in blocks (ie. I don't want the text to mirror when I
mirror the block). Using attributes is not an option I would like to use as
my application involves up to 40 or 50 text items.

I can't believe this capability is not in autocad yet - I have so may
projects on my desk right now for residential type work where the units are
mirrored and the only way to annotate the mirred ones is to do it manually.

Anybody from autodesk care to comment on this? I can't believe this has not
been addressed yet. Anybody have a workaround or maybe a arx object???
Could make alot of money if somebody developed an object to do this....

You're right. It's not "in AutoCAD" yet. What you'll need to do is to create
a separate block from the original but mirrored with non-mirrored text.

    In a previous post says...
Explode the block then mirror all but the text. Make a new block with
the mirrored items and non-mirrored text. Now you have two blocks, but
the text is oriented properly in each.

Try using the command "setvar" and set "mirrtext" to 0 (zero) or off. This system variable retains (0 or off) text direction
or not retain (1 or on) mirrored text.

The whole point of the OP is that that doesn't work in blocks, unless the
text is in the form of attributes.

    Hello Kevin,
this could be a reason to turn to Microstation (www.bentley.com).
MicroStation has an option to mirror or not to mirror text when mirroring an
element. This works also on text in blocks without having to explode the
    block.

  8. Just a thought, but you could use Attribute with a predefined Value and the
    Preset box checked.
