DRD is using the minSpacing specifications in the tech file. What
other tools/utilities use or may use the minSpacing specifications in
the tech file? DRC doesn't use them as far as I can tell as all the
spacings are hardcoded in the drc.rul.

    Two tools I remember:

    - LEF-out (File->Export->LEF) To generate technology LEF file.
    minSpacing for routing layer.
    - DEF in/out: To import DEF file into Opus layout.

    thanks,

  3. Couple more:

Also, Diva _can_ use it via the Diva commands checkAllLayers and checkLayer
(I think that's what they're called), but very few rule decks I've seen actually
    use those.

ROD functions use them for some of their defaults.

I have seen divaDRC.rul that retrieve the info from the techfile, or
use global vars that are initialised from the tchfile. I suppose it is
not the case for generic PDK and that the possibility is not mentioned
    in the diva/assura manuals.
