Microstation on Centrino vs. Pentium 4

Discussion in 'Microstation' started by Dr. G. H. Holloman, Jr., Dec 16, 2003.

  1. The new Intel Centrino Mobile technology using the Pentium M chip and a 400
MHz bus provides performance roughly equal to a Pentium 4 system running at
twice the speed (Centrino at 1.7 GHz vs. Pentium 4 at 2.6 GHz) using the
MobileMark benchmark by BAPCo. However, this benchmark does not appear to
have CPU-intense floating point applications as might be expected when
running Microstation. Thus, I am not sure that this new technology is the
best bet when purchasing a new notebook to run Microstation.

Does anyone have any experience with the Centrino technology that can
provide me with a comparison of Microstation running on this notebook
platform vs. a Pentium 4 based notebook or have any other insight that you
can share regarding which platform to buy?

    Your help is most appreciated.
