Menue

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Michael Stelter, Mar 31, 2007.

  1. Hello NG,

is it possible to create a menu which is always been loaded when a user
    start solid works?

    !there were no answers:!

I have to administrate 14 PC for students with solid works 2005. the
students work under over 200 accounts with it. I can't work with solid
works, I have only to install it on the pc.

Is it possible to create a configuration for the desktop with special menus
for the students? They should get it, when they log on the server (w2k3).

    Thanks for help
    Michael

IIRC what you want to look into is called an add in. If you deploy SW
as an administrative image and create a .reg file with the appropriate
setup you can do the following:

Have SW load with a custom menu via the addin.
Have the addin menu item become invisible so that students cannot
    disable it.

I am assuming that you want a menu with some special school related
functionality. To actually write the addin is something you will have
to research. I think it can be done in VB and for sure in C++. You
will find the documentation for this in the SW API help (you will have
to run SW for this) and on the SW support website. I don't know how
    accessible this is for schools.
