I spent all day bringing up Acad12 again... I had to load DOS on a machine
and then find all of the bits and pieces of the Acad12 code etc. What a
walk down memory lane that was! Finding mouse, digitizer and plotter
drivers etc. Remembering that the command is Acad -R to reconfigure Acad.
Anyway, Acad12 happily plotted my long plots just fine. Even though Acad12
is retro it sure is fast! Just as I was about to leave for the evening, I
gave one more try to Acad15. Yep, it can plot long plots too...you just
have to find the right tabs in the plotter profile burried really deep.
Nothe that the command HPConfig is no longer supported.
Now if I could just get Acad15 to work with my big Summagraphic digitizers.
For digitizing with these monsters I still appear to need Acad12, as Acad
doesn't appear to support old school digitizers.

    All

I can plot from Map2000 on a Win2K machine using the windows driver for the
    HP650C/ C2859B.
This driver appears to not allow for paper sizes larger than ARCH E 36-48.
    I remember plotting plots
longer than 48" on this plotter with previous versions of ACAD...can I
still do it with the new Windows version?

I've downloaded updated versions of the plotter drivers from HP. When I try
to plot with two of them, Acad
protests with a "Memory Allocation Error". On the third driver I can't get
    the installation passed the question
for the configuration file location. I give it the Acad2000.cfg and
Map2000.cfg and it balks. The readme file
talks about this being an administration privelege issue. But I Am logged on
    as the administrator
for this computer. So... I'm stumped. None of the drivers from HP seems
    to work for me ...
Any ideas on what things I can try to get long plots?

On another issue: HP talks about Acad 14 and 15 and I don't see any
version in my version of Acad's splash or help screens.
Any ideas on to ask Acad on what version it is?

OK, I found my upgrade patches for acad executable and plotter application
    to acad and repatched acad.
The patch knew that my version was Acad15. Now there is no memory
alocation error when I try any
of the drivers. Howerver ... The Win driver gets confused in puting the
plot correctly into landscape or portrait...but
the HP driver seems to work. The HP driver reminds me that I am using the
    computer's memory for rasterization...hence
the plotter won't run out of memory...now that's food for thought. My
newest ColorPro Driver doesn't seem to know
about large paper like E size, hence I'm back to using the HP driver and
making multiple panels to get a full plot.
Interestingly, the HP plotter knows about conserving paper if the full 48"
length is not required any of the panels! I guess qualifies
as my making progress on this issue...but I still lack the ability to plot
longer than 48" in one go. I wonder if this is a Windows issue ...
maybe the old plots I produced under DOS long ago were files that required
    just pen movements and didn't
require rasterization? That would explain why infinite plots could be
created ... in the olden times of DOS.

you can set a new sheet in the printer options, something like a 1000x3000
    mm or greater.

maybe you can't save this paper size in the layouts or the drawing, but you
    can print long plots.
