I frequently have to do mark ups on jpegs and it works fine on the
screen, but when I convert to PDG the jpeg is not there as it is just
    "linked" to the AutoCAD drawing.

Is there a way to have the JPEG in the DWG file?

    Thanks!

I can only speek up through version 2002. The answer is no, for those
    versions.

Terry Dotson's ToolPac utility suite has an Image Bind tool that
converts an image to a rectangular array of tiny 2D solids, one for each
pixel of the original. Your file size will increase a bunch, but the
image is truly part of the file.
