making glass

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Mathew Birtch, Mar 5, 2004.

  1. I realise that this is probably a pretty basic question, but, how do I
    change something into a "transparent plane" basically I want to show that
    something is glass or acrylic

    thanks

  2. A couple ways:

    -Edit Color; Optical Properties, Transparency.
    -RMB on face or feature; Properties; Advanced; Transparency.

  3. ok, that worked but it made everything transparent.... I want to have glass
    in a frame, should I make it a new part and make an assembly? keeping the
    frame solid and making the glass transparent

  5. Go to "Help" or "?", search for "edit color".
    RMB = Right Mouse Button.

  6. That's probably what I would do, but you might be able to do it by just
    changing the transparency of a feature (the feature that formed the window)
    or faces (the faces that form the window) as Sporky noted below
