making a new drawing

I have an AutoCad 2D drawing at work that has about five lines on it and
a couple of dimensions. There seems to be a lot of "baggage" in the
background. I say this because the file size is almost three millions
bytes. I used the purge command to reduce some of the baggage but it
only reduced the size a little. When this situation has happened in the
past I would pick the lines, use some sort of command to save the lines
to a new drawing, then save that drawing under a different name. I
didn't use the clipboard to do it; at least I don't remember using it.
I thought I had used the "make block" command. But when I used that
command it didn't give me the option of saving the picked lines and
dimensions to a new drawing. I'm using the 2000 version program.

    Thanks.

  2. Make a WBLOCK, select the lines, and hit ENTER.
(You will lose all baggage, except the current text and dimension styles,
    and the current layer.)

    That's it! Many, many thanks.

BTW, is there an icon for the command? Or, is this command listed in the
    pull-down menus?

  4. Button-clicker, eh?
Probably, but the answer would depend on your version, and menu/toolbar
    setup. I'm sorry
I can't help much with that. There are very standard buttons I use- I'm a
    PGP oriented
    kind of user.
