Make edge Horizontal in a drawing view

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Donegalforever, Jun 6, 2006.

  1. Hi All,

I'm working on a drawing of an assenbly at the moment.

I want to rotate the view to make a particular edge horizontal, but
when I do, it's 180° the wrong way. If I rotate the drawing 180°
after, the drawing is still not in the right place.

Anyone have a suggestion to try to overcome this? Any help would be
    appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Brian Leslie

Make the rotation a negative angle.

I would set-up the required view in the the Assembly Model, then input
or change to that model view.

Ok first right click the view and choose 'break alignment' <--- this is
just a safe move to make sure all is good to rotate and all your views
    will not rotate with it

Next click Tools-Customize Menu and make sure 'Align Drawing View' is
checked. Exit out of this dialog

Click the line you would like to be horizontal (or vertical for that
matter) then click Tools-Align Drawing View and choose Horizontal or
Vertical depending on what alignment you want the selected line to be

This is how I handle this situation, it works great on auxiliary views
    and odd angle sections
