longer of a polyline

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Gilles Chomel, Jan 2, 2004.

  1. My english is not too good: but I dont find french autocad groups
accessible via google or aol it's why I hope you will forgive me.

My question is how can we measure a polyline? I find it frustrating
not being able to get seach measurment. For instance: if I have a map
where I draw an itinary with many curves I would be glad to get
rapidly the distance such an itinary represents in the realty in
    kilometers... etc.

A solution could be to dissociate it and to sum each line, but I find
    this heavy.

    Par avance, merci.

LIST or LENGTHEN commands will both give you the length of a polyline.

Also, if you want the total length of a number of polylines (or other
    objects), try TLEN.LSP from

You will be able to calculate the total lenght of a polyline with a lisp
programmm availiabe at this address :
    http://intervision.hjem.wanadoo.dk/lisps/mdist.lsp

    Multi Distance
    Contains 4 commands:
TDIST: Select objects and return total lenght of all lines and arcs
    contained in the selection.
MDIST: Obtain distances by picking points and return summarized report
LDIST: Summarize lengths of individually picked lines and arcs

  5. Paul,

Great tip. I have been using area->object for at least the last
decade, which also works nicely, but not as quick (talk about
fixation- maybe its an early 90's hangover-time for a change).

    Regards,
