Is there a way to link a custom property value to an equation?

If not doing it directly that way is there a way to link the value of a
custom property to a sketch dimension, then of course I can get that
    value into an equation.

Yes, do it the usual way you put dimension values into custom
properties which is found in help. If you want the result of an
equation then just create a scratch sketch and drive a line length with
the equation result. Put that in custom properties.

hhhmmm, I think I forgot to include that the value will originally be
driven from the custom property not from the sketch. The idea is to
have a value in a custom property and that value in turn is used in an
equation. For example if there is a custom property linked to the mass
of the part then link the mass from that custom property into an
equation then the results of that equation will drive some dimensions,
    most likely some distance mates.

If you are not bound to equations then why not do this via a design
table. A DT can get and put custom properties and it is much simpler.
You could also consider a macro feature if you know a little VB.

I also considered the macro feature or just a macro assigned to a
hotkey that basically just takes the weight of the active doc and
inputs that value into an equation. I did not think about the design
table though, I will have to explore that a little, it has been years
since I used a design table.

    Thanks for your input
