Lightweight vs Read Only

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Richard Charney, Feb 9, 2005.

  1. So what's the difference between having something Lightweight vs Read Only?
Isn't it pretty much the same thing?

What do most of you think about this?

  2. Read-only would signify that you don't have the rights to change it, while
someone else could. It still loads the complete part set into memory.
Lightweight loads the part without loading all the info into memory, only
    adding info as needed.

  3. So if I have some parts open 'Lightweight', I actually have 'Write Access'
to them. And if somebody wants to open the file, they would only be able to
    have 'Read Access', correct?
