Lighting Issues in PW... HELP

  1. I'm in a rteal rush trying to get a rendered animation set up for the
weekend and things aren't going well.

I have just gone up to SWX2005 and trying to use the new photoworks is
    proving to be a nightmare.

I have stripped the lighting in the assembly back to just the ambient light
and a spot light and things are way too bright when rendered. I brought the
brightness of these right down to near-zero and it was still too bright.
I've even turned the lights all off altogether and it's still too bright.

I've checked all the "Off in Photoworks" options, tried adding lights,
subtracting lights etc and I can't seem to find what's screwing it up....
there is no extra scene lighting and I'm at a loss to explain where these
    phantom lights are coming from.

    Can anyone help?

  2. Thanks Paul.... I've traced it to something to do with the indirect
illumination I think.... with no indirect illumination things seem to go
more sensibly.... but no matter how hard I try I can't get it to render
properly and look good... I guess I'll just have to wait until SP1..... I'm
glad you were able to verify the problem and it's not just me missing some
really obvious feature in SWX2005... anyone know when they're planning to
    release SP1.0?

    Paul,

One of you guys ought to submit it to SW.

I didn't see any mention of this problem in the list of things fixed for
    SP1.

  4. Yes, it's a great feature and I already have an enhancement request
regarding the RMB in the PhotoWorks manager. In addition to
being able to turn on/off the light, there should be an extra pick
item to edit the PhotoWorks specific properties.

Currently, you have to go to the Feature Manager, edit the props
of the light, then click on the "PhotoWorks Properties" button.
    Oh well.
