How can I adjust the lineweights of my PDF to a thinner lineweight? When I plot paper, all looks okay, but the PDF is way too heavy.

If you're doing PDF's to 11x17, you will have to adjust all your lineweights
to half of what they are now. That way it will display properly and be
    legible.

  3. Plot to full size sheet !(D-size or A1 or whatever your used to.) If your
printer driver can't do it, get one that can. (they exist) Plot full size
sheet. then when the recipient plots to 11x17 or 8.5x11 the line weights
are scaled down too. If you intend to plot to small sheet size only, THEN
set up a thin lineweight plot style.

PS. If you have trouble with big PDF's then plot to DWF at full size and
then print that to PDF any size. (I almost hate to say it but)... I'm a DWF
    convert.

    Good luck.

Your idea of plotting to dwf then pdf is great. It gives me just what I
    want:
a pdf with very clear, precise lines.
