    Hello All,

I have a small question related to licene manager.
I don't know if this forum is the good one or not ... but it's related
    to Cadence so...

Recently, i received a new server (bubu01) with a new license file.
Everything is all right, so far.

    Then, i received another machine ( bubu02).
I set up bubu02, and i wanted to run Cadence on it, using the bubu01
    license file.

But i receive the message: "unable to get license"

    that's annoying :(

    what i did:
-for the first machine i received , i have ran the ' configure' script
    in the LCU /share/license directory.

a rc.lic file was created and copied in the /etc directory.
    Everything was fine :)

Then i received the new machine. I ran again the 'configure' script to
    add client ( bubu02)
so a ' client ' file was created in the share/license/ directory. What
should i do with this file ??

Then, i decided to copy the rc.lic file from bubu01 to bubu02 ( and
    update the /etc/inittab file)
    and reboot bubu02.

The lmgrd is supposed to use a tcp port. I have of course open this
    port on my firewalls.

    But nothing happened :(

The command lmstat returns the following:
cdlmd : can not connect to license server system server

could you help me by giving me some clues please ?

    Thanks and regards,

    bubu

Copying rc.lic file will not work.
First thing, do you have the license file which
has all the features for the product you are running.
Check that first, the generated license should have bubb02 in it
Then you would need to regenerate rc.lic file.
Then lmgrd should work, assuming the installation is correct.
I don't work for Cadence, but very familiar with the installation.

    Hello ,

thanks a lot for your reply.
Actually, i understand better my problem. when my firewall is down, i
    can connect from any machine.
When my firewall is up, lmgrd and cdslmd return errors ...

I have opened ports in my firewall though. i guess i need to play
with the iptables to solve this problem...

    Thanks and regards,
