Does anyone know how to lock layers so that they can not be moved? Or lock
a cell once it is placed so that it can't be moved by accident? The reason
for this is that I'm releasing data by layer, (front end mask then back end
masks later), and want to lock the layers I've released. I've written a LVL
check deck but I figure there must be a way to do this easily.

    Thanks

You can set FIXED property on the cells so they don't move when you
make metal ecos. I am not sure how to do it for metals though. Your
best option is to run XOR on the layers you have already released.

You can apply FIXED properties to wire and vias as well...

But a wire (or a net in the def) can consist of multiple layers of
metal so it'd be difficult to say FIXED only on ie metal2 but not
higher metals if you make a net fixed.

Then check to see if FIXED can be applied to CLINEs instead, or at worst,
CSegments. Those could be constrained to individual layers...

Thanks. I am still a little confused, can either of you give me a example
    of what you mean?
