Layout OK in 2000i - but in 2002 "invalid media configuration"

I settled upon what I thought to be a perfect solution to all of my plotting
problems. In fact it has been for some time.
I recently discovered that it fails for some of our users. The difference
appears to be in the AutoCAD version or patch level.

I use "TIFF Version 6 (CCITT G4 2D Compression)" raster output to a paper
size of 10,400 x 6600 pixels and scale of 300 pixels per inch. The result
is a 22" x 34" "to scale" TIFF file that is very faithfully reproduced on
any of our plotters. This has completely solved a problem I had with images
    not plotting correctly.

I use a script to plot as many drawings as necessary. The script is
generated by BPLOT2K from paracadd.com but it could be created by any valid
    means. The script is fine.

The problem I discovered is that newer versions of AutoCAD respond
differently to the same Layout media configuration and only when plotting
from the command line as scripts must. Using the plot dialog works fine
with the Layout media configuration. Using the command line generates the
script terminating error, "The selected layout has an invalid media
    configuration."

Has anyone heard of this problem before and of a solution?

The company I work for is upgrading to AutoCAD 2004 soon. I had been very
excited about getting away from the many problems that AutoCAD 2000i has but
I am mortified that an upgrade may kill my ability to create these TIFF
files using my batch plotting tool.
