Does anyone know how to set the layer dialog to come up with showing no xref layers? I can do it maunally with Show all Xref dependent layers but is there a way to control this?

I dont want to save a state for the reason that i dont want to control the colors and status of the layers. Just save the look. It must be saved somewhere, in a variable or registery or somewhere within the session. if you set it once it stays until the end of the drawing session.

Anyone have a clue where it might be saved?

Show all Xref Dependent layers is a default named layer filter in the Layer
Properties Manager, you shouldn't need to create it. Invert the filter is a
check box located just to the right of the named layer filter drop-down in
the Layer Properties Manager. There is also a check box there to apply this
to the layer drop-down on the toolbar. (This is in A2K4, at least and the
invert filter should also be in earlier versions).

    invert the filter

use a tilde to "show all except" in the filter definition as in

    ~*|*

will show everything except reference layers.
