Large pdf files when using Arial fonts

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Dave Van Haaren, Nov 19, 2003.

  1. I am creating pdf files from AutoCAD 2000i using Acrobat 5.0. When I
have arial fonts in my cad drawings the pdf's a huge. If I switch to
a standard cad font, such as bold, which has a simillar look to arial,
but not as clean, the file sizes are cut in half.
The quality of the arial font is much better than the bold cad file.
Any suggestions to reduce the file size. I've tried adjusting the
resolution (DPI), played with embedding/not embedding the files etc

Not exactly this, but we found that drawings with ARIAL true type fonts
seemed to generate very large plot files that would slow down our plotting.
Although a favourite of mine being clear and easy to read, we had to abandon
using it it AutoCAD and go with some inferior font. Maybe a similar problem
with PDF's as you "print" them.
