Large format prints -- without text?

Under AutoCAD 2005 using a HP 5500 designjet I'm trying to print a large
banner. It is comprised of more than 22,000 names using a style created
with TT Swis721 font. I am trying to fit to the 54" wide defined sheet onto
60" wide roll paper. The printer is brand new and this is actually my first
attempt at a wide format plot.

First, I am puzzled that I can't find a sheet wider than Oversize: 54" x
    76" in my list.

The first trial plot went well, printing to letter size.

Second, however, I tried plotting from model space, Extents, fit the paper,
center the plot. The plot preview onscreen looked good. Then the plot. It
looked like it started out well, printing the large solid hatch that serves
as an internal boundary to the list of names adjacent to its outside. This
hatch is one of those solid hatches with a gradation of two colors. Pretty,
    but less all the text.

My computer is P4 at 3ghz with 1.5Gb of Ram and some 60Gb of available space
    on the hard drive.
