L & R Mirrored Config?

    Hello All,

I have a part "Butterfly" which I mirrored to create a Left & Right configs.
So, in config Left, I simply suppress the mirror feature.
Except, in the config Right I want to cut or cut with surf using a plane,
    but no joy.
It seems that I can't consume the part, but SW complains that it can't
create the cut because of geometric conditions!?

It certainly should be a simple thing to create a L & R config in one part
    right??
BTW, up until now I've always just mirror the part and create a new part,
but I've run into problems with that way of doing things so I thought I'd
    try this.
Am I wrong in thinking one part with two configs is better than two parts?

    TIA,
    Muggs

  2. It depends on how your customer, or company you work for likes
it's files. A PDM system might be a cause for making separate
    part files.

Anyhow, a multibody approach would be your best bet. I prefer
this over separate files if I can get away with it.

    Thanks Mike,

Yea, I prefer that as well. And my customer really doesn't care one way or
    the other.
The problem is, I can't hide the original body (I can, but hiding is not
config specific) or do any kind of cut.
    Any thoughts?
BTW, if anyone is interested in seeing what I'm talking about you can find
    the file at:

  4. I can't hide the original body (I can, but hiding
    You're almost there...

*) Go to your Solid Bodies folder
*) Right-click one and select "Delete Body"
*) Do the same for the other
*) Suppress/unsuppress the 'Delete' features per config

In this case I think it should be better with one part and two
    configs....quite easily done...I'll e.mail You an example

    Thanks Krister,

Although Mike's way worked great, I'de be interested in how you go about it.
Just replace "home" with "comcast" in my email address.
