    Hello You all,

Recently I noticed that when I import a JPG on the sheet of a (2d)
drawing, that the JPG is no longer displayed. All you see is a small
box with the name of the JPG in it. In the past this worked perfectly.
BMP is no problem. I've got a customer who didn't change their SWX
installation, and this 'bug' suddenly appeared. This makes me think
this might be a non-SWX problem (Microsoft?). Does anyone know how to
solve this, or what causes this?

    I tested with SWX 2003, 2004 and 2005.

    Kind regards,

    J.J. Zwaard

I think display of jpegs is by mime type. SW doesn't handle them
directly. If something changed in where the OS thinks jpegs are
handled then this can happen. BMP is the lowest common denominator and
support is AFAIK always guaranteed. But jpegs require another program
to display. Which leads me to believe that some of the recent hotfixes
MSoft has released for security in jpegs may be in play here. It is
    just a thought.

Here's an example to show that the cause of display problems with JPG
images is likely due to the OLE environment and not a dysfunction of
    SolidWorks:

A co-worker with the same 2004 version and service pack of SolidWorks
is not able to display the actual JPG image as an OLE object when
inserting it on his computer. All that shows up is an icon to represent
the object. However, the same insertion process performed on my system
yields a drawing with the full JPG image displayed.

Then, after the drawing with the inserted OLE object is saved, it can
be opened in the co-worker's session of SolidWorks and the JPG displays
    fully!

Certainly there are many variables and I don't know the exact cause or
cure, but both similar systems mentioned above have the same Corel
PhotoPaint program set as the default program for the viewing/editing
of JPG images and the Windows 2000 service pack and hotfixes are the
    same.

The fact that the JPG can't be created, but can be viewed is an odd
    syndrome...

Try copy/paste into MS Word, and then, from Word, copy/paste into SW. I
don't understand the effect behind it, but, so far, it worked for me.
