Jewelry rendering in PhotoWorks

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Evan T. Basalik, Aug 11, 2004.

  1. We are working on trying to render some jewelry and are having some problems
with PhotoWorks. We have not had many problems with trying to render shiny
yellow gold, but are having problems with satin yellow gold and brushed
    yellow gold.

Then, we have to do the same thing for red gold, green gold, and platinum.

We have tried looking around on the web for some custom materials and
textures, but have not had much success.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

  2. We use Photoworks for doing renderings to.
What exactly are you having a problem with, when using the satin & brushed
    yellow gold?

  3. Take a digital picture and crop it (Make sure you have adequate lighting and
don't use a flash try not to get glare. Then apply it to the jewelry.
Adjust the bmp scale and change the settings to a close preset and adjust
from there. It takes quite a bit of messing around sometimes but can
    achieve the desired results.

  4. The problem is that they just don't look good. We have some "real" pictures
and the rendered satin and brush just look too soft. Plus, we are having a
hard time consistently producing the look in Photoworks.

What settings would you recommend messing with?

  5. Well if your bitmap is giving it the satin and brushed feel make the bitmap
larger this should make it more grainy. It looks like Anistropic settings.
