Isometric Drawings

I haven't done any drafting in a few years (the last version of
AutoCAD I had used was 16) and I'm having some problems with drawing
    isometric views.

Can anyone tell me (or point me in the direction of a tutorial) how to
calculate how long the lines should be in an isometric drawing so that
the object doesn't look stretched or distorted? I know the vertical
lines are the same length as the would be in the Front and Right views
but what about the ones on the 30 degree angles?

I remember doing plenty of these drawings way back when but my memory
has failed me on how to do it.

    Thanks,
    -Austin

Thanks, I was slowly coming to that conclusion. I've been playing
around with drawings since posting that and even though it seems to
defy logic or perspective it seems to work. That would probably
explain why I couldn't remember what method to use to calculate the
    line length!
