    Greetings:

When one first launch SW, the default screen displays a plain gray
background in 2003 and a gray background with SW emboss logo in 2004.
Is it possible to change these background color to a different one.

Advance thanks for any kind of suggestion and help.

Have a Merry Xmas, Happy and Healthy New Year everyone.

There isn't an option available in the software to make this change. You
can, however, use a hex editor to edit the sldworks.exe file where this info
resides, but I wouldn't recommend it unless the grey background really
    bothers you that much.

The color for the background in the SolidWorks Window is controlled by
Windows. Goto your display properties and change the colour of "2D
Objects" in the item pulldown under the Appearance tab.

This will also change the colour of many other window controls like the
window borders, titlebar buttons, dialog boxes, and menu bars, so you
may not really want to do this.

Actually, the setting is "Application Background" in the Appearance Tab
(under Advanced... in Windows XP) and it won't change those other items.
All your other apps will use this same color, though, for their
    backgrounds.
