    Hi
I'd like to know if it's possible to change the browser (Firefox instead
of IE) used in the internal browser page in ProE (WF3 or WF4). Any
    options in config.pro ?
    Thanks
    Bye

  3. Hello,

    I don't think there's a browser 'embedded' in pro_e ...

    My pro_e 2001 opens a seamonkey tab every time I start/quit it,
I guess because this is the standard browser on my system.

Luckily, the PTC web page it tries to access does not exist,
but I would prefer to get rid of this annoyance at all.

    Is there a config.pro option call_home_whenever_program_starts NO?
I don't want to have the PTC sales men in black on my back again.

    TIA

  4. I agree. Pro/E does not use any of the "normal" hooks into the windows
operating system to make buttons, windows, menus, etc. It uses it's own
graphics program called xtop.exe that allows PTC to write the same core
graphics code for all PC and UNIX versions, then xtop.exe interfaces
between that core application code and the windows operating system.

Internet Explorer and Firefox interface with Windows at a higher level,
so it is not likely that Pro/E uses either of these programs. By my
reckoning they wrote their own bit of web browser or installed some
other piece of UNIX-based code that runs through xtop.exe. Therefore
you have no choice in the matter.

I asked a similar question a while ago but it was not to change the
browser but to stop it displaying.
The answer worked for me in WF2.
Tools; customize screen; browser; then clear the box for Expand
    browser by default.
