INSERTION OF A WORD DOCUMENT

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Paul Caruthers, Oct 20, 2004.

  1. One of my co-works has prepared a Word doc. of a code review that I
would like to make part of my 2004 dwg. for a condo project we are doing.
I've tried to insert it as a word doc but only get part of the document,
it's only 6 pages. If I insert it as text it all comes through but then it
becomes seperate from the original.... kind of defeating the purpose. any
    thoughts??

Apparently I am mistaken. After your comment, I double-checked with my 2003
and only had one page pasted. Someone may have a fix.....

you might want to check out Word2CAD from www.dotsoft.com. It's a low cost
tool for linking Word docs to Acad drawings.

  4. With Office2003, you have unlimited EXCEL pasting abilities, the WORD
    limitation is still there unfortunately.

  5. To complete my other post...... Dave's link to DotSoft is a good bet if
that data link between .dwg and .doc is important to your business. I
looked into it, and it is a great tool, just haven't decided to officially
    do it right now.

  6. So, It's a Word Issue, not an Autocad issue?

  7. Well, I believe it is AutoCAD with the limitation. It can read unlimited
EXCEL size, but still maintains the WORD size limitation. Who knows why.
Dean had a good explanation in a post I placed once about this same issue,
but I don't recall exactly what he had to say about it.

  8. I don't need to, but it would have been nice. Actually when I do a "paste
special" as text, it comes in as mtext.

    Thanks for the help....

    -insert the doc as ole
-double click it in acad to open word
-change word's page setup to the max sheet size of 22" (height)
-might need to set the margins to zero get get it all
-if thats not enough to fit all six pages just make the font size smaller.

if the final ole is too long for your sheet you can increase the width of
the doc to 22" and create a table to seperate your columns

Well I may be repetitive here, but I was too lazy to read everyones replies. So here ya go. You need to do this with each page in you word doc. Select All (ctrl+A) then copy (ctrl+v). Go to AutoCAD and type "pastespec". There will be a few options there but really all ya have to do is push ok. You can link this file but you will have trouble dealing with several pages (maybe). Thats it. It will take ya about 5 minutes total. Sorry for the spelling errors and not taking the time to read everyone elses post. =(
